Life with Eko

It's finally a beautiful Friday afternoon, so Kurt and I decided to take Eko on his first longer walk to Hart Field. Our thought was we could start to teach him how to fetch by keeping him on his leash, throwing the ball and then running after it with him. After several miserable attempts where Eko just repeatedly got himself tangled in his leash, then began eating grass instead, we gave up. Any suggestions?
Eko has taught us that we are definitely not ready for kids. Waking up early to take him outside, feed him, take him for walks, etc. is enough - and we get to just lock him in a kennel when we need to leave - we are not ready to give up that luxury. This has taken a much harder toll on Kurt since he is definitely NOT a morning person. The fact that he said on Saturday that he got to "sleep in until 7" slightly explains his misery. The above picture of him and Eko shortly after our walk this afternoon explains it even more. He's even laying on one of Eko's toys, and probably laying in one of Eko's past pee spots. I guess you do anything to get some rest when you have a puppy. I'm just glad I had the camera nearby from taking pictures to send to Grandma Jan of her grandpup with the gift she gave him,
and of our tulips that finally bloomed weeks after our neighbors and somehow survived the May freezes. Life is good :-)

In other news the Royals fired Trey Hillman yesterday.
